A FUNERAL AND A CLOSE CALL

I feel old.

My last living grandparent passed away this past week. Yesterday was her funeral. It makes me sad not to have anymore grandparents.

This picture is how I like to remember my grandma. She had the most beautiful brown eyes and olive-toned skin. She gave those brown eyes to my dad, who gave them to me and I have since passed on to Abby. Also thanks to her, we all have olive toned skin that rarely sunburns. She was a great lady and will be missed. On the way to her funeral in Colorado, I was flying to Denver to meet Daren. From Denver we went onto her funeral. Anyway, while flying into Denver I thought I was going to be the first fatal crash in Southwest Airlines history. The flight was going well until as we started approaching the airport in Denver. Apparently they closed the airport due to thunderstorms. So we circled the airport for a half an hour, which made me sick to my stomach. Then, the pilot comes on and says that the airport is open and we are going to land. The turbulence was HORRIBLE. The plane was going side to side, we were bouncing all over the place. It was so rough that one of the overhead bins opened up. I was FREAKED out. I started to have a panic attack. I was shaking and to make matters worse, the blonde 20-something chick next to me says, "Oh I LOVE turbulence." I wanted to say, "OK...you can shut up before I throw you out the window and then see how much you love turbulence!" I was SO happy to be on the ground safely when we landed. I went over to an empty area of the airport and started to cry. It was TERRIBLE!

Needless to say, I'm not flying into Denver anytime soon. (Sorry Erin...I still want to come see ya sometime in Denver...maybe when there aren't thunderstorms!)

HUMBLE PIE

Today I came a NANO-second from puking on my trainer. She had no idea I was so close to puking. When the workout was over I came home and puked. I worked out for and hour and a half today (and Monday too) and I think the vomit is my body's way of saying, "What the *#@!&!?"

As if that weren't bad enough when we finished training, my trainer asked me to repeat back to her what we did during our session and what muscle groups we were working out. She got a BIG TIME laugh when I called it a "LAP press" instead of a "LAT press." She was excited to share my gym faux pas with her other trainer friends. I'm sure the conversation went like this, "Hey skinny, fit and in shape trainers...I'm working with this lady who needs to read the book "Gyms For Dummies" because she thinks its called a LAP press!" Hahahaha

What can I say...I'm a gym idiot! This definitely requires humility and the ability to laugh at one's self!

A NEW ME

It's Day #2 and I can hardly walk.

Why?

I started working out with a personal trainer. Should I be scared that she looks like Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser? I think she weights like 100 pounds, well maybe 105 pounds on a bad day. She's tough and I'm sore.

I mean REALLY sore. Like, when I get up off the couch or walk up the stairs my girls laugh that I say "ouch" and "ooh I'm going to die."

I'm nervous to write what my goal is on my blog because I don't want to fail. But I really want to run a 5K this fall. Hopefully I can get in shape and meet this goal. That is if Jillian's look-a-like sister, aka my trainer doesn't kill me first!

HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

I LOVE DISNEYLAND! I mean, I REALLY LOVE Disneyland. I love walking into the park on the first day. Everyone is SO happy, it smells like churros and popcorn and I often can't contain the tears that well up in my eyes because I am out of my mind excited to be there with my family.

We had a great week last week. We went to the park for 5 days (not all in a row--we went to Sea World for part of the trip) and I could have easily stayed longer. We took our nephew who had never been.
Since Tanner broke his foot, we pushed him around for a week. It was great to have a wheelchair at Disneyland because many of the rides we could go through the exit and didn't have to wait in the lines. I figure I have paid PLENTY of money through the years on overpriced Diet Cokes, ice cream, pizza, pretzels, etc that Mickey can do us a favor by not having to wait in lines with a broken foot.
This is Camille's favorite place to pose for a picture:
Of course, this is Abby's favorite place too:
The worst part about the trip is that the girls don't want to go on Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan, etc. anymore. As Camille says, "The old-fashioned" Camille would have wanted to go on those rides but the "new-fashioned" Camille wants to go on Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc.
Personally, I really miss the Old-Fashioned Camille & Abby!
